The Florida Experience

By Mark

Miami and Key West may not seem like an adventure but it is when you start out in Orlando.  Both Bill and I were sent to Orlando for an Office 97 pilot install.  We got there on Thursday and had all of the work completed by Saturday.  So we had Sunday off.  Some of our fellow coworkers talked about heading to Disney World or Universal Studios for the day.  We thought instead of spending $40+ dollars just to get into the park, we would drive to Miami and maybe Key West for a Hard Rock Café shopping spree.

We started 7:30 am, Sunday. I was driving as we traveled down the Florida Turnpike. Don’t tell the Florida State Highway Patrol but we were traveling at a high rate of speed. We were in Miami by 11:30.  We ran into some difficulties finding the Hard Rock Cafe and no one on the street could tell us where to go. We finally found a car washer, who told us the shopping center on the water where the Hard Rock Café was located. We found the location and started walking though the shopping area, but still couldn’t find the Hard Rock Café.  I spotted an employee with a Hard Rock vest on, fought to get Bill off the phone with his girl friend and were in hot pursuit of the young lady. We found the Hard Rock Café in all its beauty on the water, took the necessary web site pictures, and purchased our goods.  We were soon back on the road heading for Key West.  It isn’t too far of a drive to Key West but the speed limit and the traffic along the keys makes it seem like an eternity.  We arrived around 3:15 p.m.  We took our pictures again and purchased our goods.  We decided to head over to the southern most point in the continental US.  We took our obligatory photos and headed back to Orlando.

It was a long 7 hour drive back to Orlando with Bill doing the driving.  We could have hit the Orlando Hard Rock Café but we already did that previous day.  So that ends that adventure…
